That is adding buttons to a form to perform some sort of action. There are several ways of firing script such as onchange of fields or even adding buttons to the ribbon bar. The ribbon bar is pretty interesting way of adding functionality, if you have the time download the definitions, find the exact spot and order you want your button, then finally re-import it. Its a cool feature and these new buttons are available for all forms for the entity, but it is overkill for simple things. This post will show you how to quickly add buttons to a page with just a few lines of javascript.

This plugin requires Jquery, download the latest version and add it along with the CRMButtonBar plugin to the script collection for your form.

Create a new attribute (a text field is fine) and add the new attribute to the form where you want the buttons to show up.

Either add the following code to your main Javascript page or or create a new script page.

1   $(document).ready(function(){
2   $('#new_newname_d').CrmButtonBar ({
3       sourcefield: 'new_newname',
4       buttons:[
5       {
6               text : "Press Me",
7           click: function (){alert("Button 1 Pressed");},
8           width : '50px'
9       },
10           {
11 text : "Press Me Too!",
12               click: function (){alert("Button 2 Pressed");},
13           width : '150px'
14       }]
15         });
16   });

When you’re done, your page should look similar like the following:

Force Submit on a Read-Only or Disabled Field on CRM 2011

http://www.netrisoft.net/blog/force-submit-on-a-read-only-or-disabled-field-on-crm-2011

http://www.netrisoft.net/blog/force-submit-on-a-read-only-or-disabled-field-on-crm-2011#comments

JavaScript

By default, if a field on your form is disabled, it will not save any changes made via script. We’ve had this issue with our production CRm where many users have been complaining about IE7 locking up when they went to save a record (Opportunities, leads etc). All of the entities had custom javascript that would make async calls back to the CRM web service on the onload event. When we removed the script IE stopped crashing. So after hours of re-writing all the javascript, they still continued to crash the browser when enabled.

The issue took another leap in to the world of “what the hell?” when we started different methods of testing, for instance, when we installed CRM to a local machine for testing, then there were no issues what so ever. Then, we enabled javascipt debugging, and still, no issues. Using Fiddler to check the traffic, we noticed that it did crash after several successful call to the service. This led us to believe the issue was related to something in the request itself, not the server.

As it turns out, a phishing filter add-on that was used by Sophos was causing this issue. For some reason, Sophos was having a hard time scanning all the requests, therefore it was just hanging. Now to fix this solution, we added the CRM site to the Trusted Sites zone and modify the security. Here are the steps that worked for us:

1. From IE, goto Tools>Internet Options and select the Security tab.
2. Select Trusted Sites, the press the Sites button.
3. Add your crm url and press add, then close.
4. Select the Advanced tab.
5. Uncheck ‘Enable third-party browser extensions.

This will turn off the third-party phishing filter (Sophos in our case) and allow you to freely view CRM that features custom script without any headaches!

Let me know if this was helpful, this is my first real blog entry and I was limited on time, please let me know if you need more detail and I will post it.

Good Luck!
